What MLC is and why it's used in Cuba
The MLC (Freely Convertible Currency) is a digital scheme within the Cuban banking system created to channel foreign-currency spending on the island. It isn't a physical banknote: the balance lives on a magnetic card issued by Cuba's three main banks — BANDEC, BPA and Banco Metropolitano — and can be spent across the network of MLC stores (CIMEX, Caribe, service stations and other authorized shops).
Identifying the right card is simple: confirm the issuing bank and the full number with the holder. We do not publish BIN ranges.

When an MLC top-up makes sense — and when it doesn't
MLC is the most useful option when your family needs to shop at MLC stores: food, toiletries, appliances or imported products that aren't available in CUP. It's also convenient because the balance stays on the card and can be spent little by little, with no need to exchange it or carry cash around.
If what your family needs is to cover daily expenses in the informal market or farmers' markets, or to pay for services in pesos, you may be better off with a cash delivery.

- BANDEC — Banco de Crédito y Comercio, extensive national presence.
- BPA — Banco Popular de Ahorro, the one with the largest network of branches.

Do I need the full MLC card details?
Yes. We need the full MLC card number and the name of the holder as it appears on file with the bank. That's enough: there is no need for a CVV or an expiration date because it is a deposit, not a payment.
